Hi, thanks for dropping in. I feel like I should offer you some tea. And get out the posh biscuits.
A bit about me? Alright…
So, I am based in the UK, and a scientist and professional medical writer for the pharmaceutical industry by day (fantasist and romance writer by night).
I have a PhD in cell biology, and have got used to saying “No, not that kind of doctor”, a lot. Here is 23-year old me with a pipette, looking entirely delighted to be in the lab. Good times.
Originally from The Lake District, and after a whistle-stop tour of the home counties, I have finally settled with my family in Devon and enjoy talking about science, anything to do with animals, and binge-reading uplifting, happily-ever-after stories (even better if they feature scientists and/or animals).
I am that pony-mad girl who has never grown up, and I’m lucky enough to have a little herd of four horses to keep me sane, including Beau, my epic jousting (yes, that’s right, actual jousting) horse, and all round bestest pal. That’s his cute face next to the grinning weirdo in the picture.
There are also some chickens, cats and rabbits hanging about the place, and I am usually found somewhere outside with mud on my face and hay in my hair. Totes glam.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, I accidentally wrote a novel in an attempt to escape the rollercoaster ride of home-schooling my daughter, but have now found creative writing to be a lot more fun than it was in GCSE English (sorry Mrs Caswell). I’ll be honest, no one is more surprised than me that I’ve somehow ended up becoming a rom com novelist, with two books coming out with Harper Collins in 2024. Which is very exciting and totally mad bonkers.
And, yes, that is me re-enacting some kind of Pulp Fiction dance move in the stables in a bobble hat. Totally normal behaviour.
